According to BoG, the ₵11.60 per dollar rate reflects current market conditions on the interbank market. The central bank continues to operate a managed float regime to ensure stability and curb speculation.

The announcement comes at a time when businesses and households are closely watching forex movements due to its impact on fuel prices, import costs and cost of living. BoG says it has adequate reserves to support legitimate demand and has advised the public to trade only with licensed banks and forex bureaus.

The Bank of Ghana is currently holding its 132nd Monetary Policy Committee meeting to review inflation trends, exchange rate pressures and macroeconomic outlook under the new IMF PCI programme.

BoG has reiterated its commitment to maintaining price stability and has cautioned against black market trading which poses risks of counterfeit notes and inflated rates.

The ₵11.60 per dollar interbank rate will guide transactions for commercial banks while retail forex bureau rates may vary slightly due to service charges.
