Police Seize Six Hundred Parcels of Wee at Dawhenya Checkpoint
The Ghana Police Service has foiled a major narcotics conveyance, apprehending two suspects after intercepting a Ford Transit vehicle laden with hundreds of parcels of suspected Indian hemp at Dawhenya in the Tema Region. The meticulously executed snap checkpoint operation has delivered one of the most substantial cannabis seizures recorded along the Accra-Aflao corridor in recent months.
According to #Ghana Police Service, officers on routine interdiction duty halted the commercial vehicle during a snap check and upon diligent search uncovered compressed parcels concealed within the cargo compartment, believed to be cannabis sativa. The driver and his accomplice were immediately placed under restraint while the exhibits were impounded for forensic validation and prosecutorial preservation.
A senior law enforcement contact familiar with the operation disclosed that the consignment’s magnitude points to an organised distribution network rather than opportunistic peddling. The suspects remain in custody assisting investigators to trace the consignment’s provenance, intended destination and potential syndicate linkages, with charges relating to unlawful possession, transportation and intent to distribute narcotic substances anticipated.
The interception underscores the strategic significance of Dawhenya as a chokepoint for contraband moving between border enclaves and metropolitan markets.
