Health Minister Distributes Critical Medical Equipment

The government’s efforts to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system have received another boost following the distribution of essential medical equipment to health facilities across the Western North Region as part of the ongoing Free Primary Health Care initiative.

The presentation formed part of the Health Minister’s working tour of the region aimed at assessing healthcare delivery and improving access to quality medical services, particularly at the primary healthcare level.

During the tour, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh handed over a range of life-saving and critical medical equipment, including incubators, patient monitors, defibrillators, hospital beds and other essential devices to support healthcare facilities in delivering efficient and quality care.

The equipment was presented at both the regional and community levels. At the regional level, the donation was made to the Ghana Health Service Regional Directorate in Bodi, while health facilities in the communities of Nsawora also received medical equipment to enhance healthcare delivery.

Speaking after concluding the tour, the Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality healthcare services across the country through the Free Primary Health Care programme.

According to the Minister, the provision of modern medical equipment is expected to improve the capacity of health facilities, enhance emergency response, support maternal and neonatal care, and improve patient outcomes in the beneficiary communities.

The Minister emphasized that expanding access to quality healthcare and achieving Universal Health Coverage remain key priorities of the government under the leadership of John Dramani Mahama.

The government believes that strengthening primary healthcare infrastructure and equipping health facilities with modern medical devices are critical steps toward ensuring that every Ghanaian, regardless of location, has access to affordable, quality healthcare services.

The Western North tour forms part of a broader nationwide effort to improve healthcare delivery, bridge inequalities in access to medical services, and advance the government’s vision of building a resilient and inclusive health system capable of meeting the needs of all citizens.
