Parliament’s Select Committee on Education has embarked on an assertive oversight expedition to the Ministry of Education, interrogating flagship reforms and operational deficiencies within the sector. The visit signals legislative resolve to bridge policy intent with classroom realities.
According to the Ministry of Education, Minister Haruna Iddrisu delineated government’s agenda to dismantle the double-track system and implement the “No Fees Stress” policy for tertiary scholars. The Ministry of Education stated that efforts to establish a university in every region are progressing to democratize access. The briefing was convened during the Committee’s five-day working tour of the Ministry and its affiliate agencies.

According to the Committee, members demanded judicious stewardship of the TVET Fund and amplified investment in basic education. They cited teacher deficits and infrastructural decay in marginalized enclaves as systemic vulnerabilities.
The Committee stressed the necessity for sophisticated data architecture and stringent monitoring mechanisms to ensure accountability and widen scholastic access.
