Matron Caught Red-Handed in Food Diversion Scandal

A shocking scandal has rocked Wovenu Senior High Technical School in the Volta Region, where an assistant matron has been arrested for allegedly diverting food items meant for students. The suspect, identified as Doris Foli, was apprehended by community vigilantes and handed over to the police.

According to Rev. Martin Amenaki, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ketu North, the arrest was made following a tip-off from the Assembly Member for Tadzewu Electoral Area, Patrick Meli Atipoe. The food items, including bags of rice, cartons of mackerel, tomatoes, milk, and gallons of cooking oil, were allegedly being transported in a saloon car driven by a police officer.

The police officer, who has been identified as a close associate of the matron’s sister, was reportedly wearing jeans when arrested, with his police uniform found in the vehicle. Further investigations revealed additional food items in the matron’s room, with some items claimed to have been purchased by her, while others were admitted to be part of the school’s feeding program.

“The involvement of a police officer is deeply disturbing,” Rev. Amenaki said. “We will ensure that justice is served without bias.” The suspects are currently in police custody, assisting with investigations.

The incident has sparked outrage among Ghanaians, with many calling for swift action against those responsible. The government has been urged to take stern measures to prevent such incidents in the future.

The case highlights the need for increased vigilance and accountability in the management of school resources. As investigations continue, the public awaits the outcome of the probe.
