Wetlands Conservation Takes Center Stage

 

The Forestry Commission has marked World Wetlands Day with a call to action to protect Ghana’s wetlands. According to EwedukorTv, the event was held at ANSECO, highlighting the importance of wetlands conservation.

 

The event brought together stakeholders to discuss the role of wetlands in supporting biodiversity and livelihoods. Wetlands provide crucial ecosystem services, including water filtration and flood control.

 

Speaking at the event, officials emphasized the need for collective action to protect Ghana’s wetlands. “Wetlands are essential for our survival, and we must take steps to conserve them,” said a Forestry Commission representative.

 

Ghana’s wetlands are under threat from human activities such as agriculture and urbanization. The Forestry Commission is working to raise awareness about the importance of wetlands conservation.

 

The event included tree planting and clean-up exercises, with participants pledging to support wetlands conservation efforts.
