Supervising High Court Judge Meets Gunu

The newly posted Supervising High Court Judge for the Volta Region, H/L Justice Stephen Kumi, has emphasized the importance of a credible and efficient justice system in driving economic growth and boosting investor confidence in the region. According to Hon. James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, Justice Kumi made this statement during a courtesy call, where they discussed ways to improve judicial administration and service delivery.
During the meeting, Hon. Gunu highlighted the critical role a reliable justice system plays in ensuring peace and security, as well as attracting investments to the Volta Region. He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the Judicial Service to strengthen justice delivery for the people.
Reflecting on his experience as a former District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, Hon. Gunu shared how facilitating the establishment of the District Court at Ave-Dakpa has positively impacted access to justice and local development. This initiative has contributed to the region’s progress and underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in improving the justice system.
The Volta Region faces challenges in its justice system, including chieftaincy disputes that can erode investor confidence and disrupt local governance. According to reports, about 31 cases are currently under litigation, with an additional 30 cases being contested at the region’s traditional councils
Justice Kumi’s visit marks a new chapter in the region’s judicial history, with stakeholders optimistic about the impact of his leadership on the region’s development. The Judicial Service has been working to improve its services, including the use of technology to enhance access to justice.
