ACCRA — Vice President Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has condemned the practice of demanding sex for jobs and grades, describing it as an abuse of power that must end.
“Demanding sex for jobs and grades is an abuse of power that must end. No job or academic qualification should require sexual favours,” the Vice President said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said no woman or young person should be forced to trade their dignity for employment, promotion, admission or academic success.
She stressed that workplaces and schools must be safe spaces where merit, hard work and talent determine progress, not exploitation by those in positions of authority.
The Vice President called on institutions to enforce clear policies against sexual harassment and abuse, protect victims who speak out, and hold perpetrators accountable without fear or favour.
She further urged women and girls to know their worth, speak up against abuse, and support one another in demanding dignity and fairness in every space. Howedey.com will continue to monitor developments on the matter.
