President John Dramani Mahama has held a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Third Russia–Africa Summit in Moscow on 30 October 2026.
President Mahama secured six key commitments through his discussions with President Putin, covering nuclear energy, defence, agriculture, education, the recruitment of Ghanaians into the Russia-Ukraine war and the revival of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC).
Among the major outcomes is Russia’s commitment to work with Ghana towards establishing a 2,000-megawatt nuclear power plant to strengthen energy security and support industrialisation.
Other commitments include enhanced defence cooperation, increased agricultural collaboration, expanded scholarships for Ghanaian students, and urgent action to stop the recruitment of Ghanaians into the Russia-Ukraine war.
The revival of the Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation is expected to provide a structured framework for implementing the agreements, as both leaders pledged to deepen Ghana-Russia relations for mutual benefit. #ResettingGhana #MahamaThePresident #RussiaAfricaSummit
