Dr Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, a senior aide to former Ashanti Regional NPP Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, says some inmates allegedly attempted to poison the politician in prison.
According to Dr Palgrave, the alleged poisoning attempt was made through contaminated food given to the politician while in custody, adding that it took divine intervention for Wontumi to escape the plot.
He has since called on the authorities and prison officials to investigate the incident and ensure the safety and protection of Chairman Wontumi while he remains in custody.
