Kasoa Uber driver who was allegedly gang-raped at East Legon has been compensated ₵105,600 by the ladies involved, according to new developments in the trending case monitored on Kasapa FM and Agoo TV. The 28-year-old driver, who lives at Kasoa Budumburam, had earlier recounted an alleged sexual assault involving three women at an apartment in East Legon Hills.

According to the driver, the three women contacted him to transport them from Kasoa to East Legon Hills. Upon arrival, the women asked him to enter the apartment briefly to familiarise himself with the location before returning the following morning. He alleged that after entering, one of the women locked the door and took away the keys, and the three women, described as well-built and stout, overpowered him and began running their hands over his body despite his pleas to leave.

“I asked to leave immediately, but they ignored my pleas. One of them pinned my legs against the bed, making me unable to move, while all three of them took turns having their way with me,” he alleged on 3ntowoada programme hosted by Akosua Ahwenepa Gyambiby. After the alleged incident, he said he slept in his car for two hours in shame before going to report at a police station, where he claimed officers made fun of him.

Following public pressure and mediation after the interview went viral, the ladies involved have reportedly agreed to compensate the driver with ₵105,600 for trauma, lost income and medical support. Sources close to the matter say the payment was made as part of an out-of-court understanding after both parties were invited for settlement talks. The compensation amount covers alleged damages and an agreement to drop further public accusations while police conclude their review. The Ghana Police Service has not yet issued an official statement on whether criminal proceedings will continue despite the compensation.

One of the women earlier defended their actions on Kasapa FM, claiming they were starving for intimacy and that the driver was not the first man they had engaged in such acts with, stating about three men had allegedly experienced similar encounters. She questioned why the driver went public, asking if he did not enjoy it. The claims remain allegations and have not been independently verified by court or police, but they have sparked national debate on male sexual assault victims, unlawful confinement and consent under Ghanaian law.

The Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) recognises sexual assault irrespective of gender, and legal experts say any act without consent could amount to crime even if compensation is paid. Child Rights and gender advocates have called for proper police investigation and counselling for the driver, while urging Uber Ghana and Bolt to strengthen safety protocols for drivers operating late at night in unfamiliar locations like East Legon Hills. Howedey.com will follow up with police confirmation on the ₵105,600 compensation and any legal next steps.
