Security Guard Assaulted at Ridge Hospital

A security officer at the Ridge Hospital was brutally assaulted for preventing a visitor from entering the wards after visiting hours. The incident, which occurred on February 18, 2026, at approximately 7:28 p.m. in the Labour Ward, has sparked outrage and concern.

According to GHOne News, the security guard had directed an 18-year-old visitor, Gabriel Dimson, to relocate to the reception area, as it was not allowed to stand at the ward entrance outside of approved visiting hours. However, Dimson refused to comply and physically attacked the officer, pushing him to the ground and causing him to lose consciousness.

The officer was promptly attended to by doctors on duty and is currently hospitalised, responding well to treatment. The incident has been reported to the Ghana Police Service, and Dimson has been arrested and is assisting with investigations.

Juliana Haruna, Head of Public Relations at Ridge Hospital, condemned the attack, stating that the hospital will not tolerate any form of violence against its staff. The hospital management emphasized that security officers play a critical role in enforcing hospital policies designed to protect patients, visitors, and healthcare workers.

The hospital has urged the public to cooperate with staff and comply with established guidelines, including visiting protocols, to maintain a safe and orderly healthcare environment.
