Four Killed in Tragic Accident at Twifo-Ntafrewaso, Central Region.

A devastating road traffic accident at Twifo-Ntafrewaso in the Central Region has claimed the lives of four people on Christmas Eve. The incident occurred when a Hyundai Getz taxi with registration number GW 7715-25 veered off the Cape Coast-Twifo Praso road and crashed into a tree, killing all four occupants.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) received a distress call at 4:48 pm on December 24 and immediately dispatched a rescue team to the scene. Three people were trapped in the wreckage and were extricated by the crew, but unfortunately, they were pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. A fourth victim, who had been rescued by civilians, also died at the Twifo Praso Government Hospital.

Eyewitnesses attributed the crash to overspeeding on a curved section of the road, compounded by rainy conditions at the time of the accident. The vehicle was completely wrecked, and the incident has raised concerns about road safety, particularly during festive periods when vehicular traffic is high.

The GNFS has urged motorists to exercise caution, reduce speed, and adhere strictly to road safety regulations to prevent further loss of lives. The police have launched an investigation into the accident.

The tragedy has sparked grief among residents, with community members rallying support for the bereaved families. As the nation celebrates Christmas, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and responsible driving.
